It seems like a lifetime ago that I won these medals.
In 1995 I returned home carrying a Gold Medal from the South African Goju Ryu National Championships. The credit needs to go to Sensei Fernando Goncalves
Sensei Fernando was the most incredibly patient instructor. God knows how he dealt with my hot headedness. His fine eye to detail helped me win not only the Kumite but Kata also with the Kata, "Saifa"!
My only regret is not continuing with the incredible arts of Goju Ryu Karate and Kenpo Jitsu. Both these fine Martial Art styles have served me well through the years. Age has caught up with me and my fitness levels have deteriorated along with my reaction time but the Spirit remains along with the savvy to survive!
